The Tropes to Coming of Age
​Coming-of-age stories as television shows help teenagers have a better understand the way of adolescent to Adulthood through these tropes: The Hero’s Journey, Sex as Rite-of-Passage, First experience with the Five stages of Grief. I have four tv shows (Beverly Hills 90210, Dawson’s Creek, One tree hill and The O.C) For me to prove these tv shows demonstrate a true coming of age story I have to analysis each trope from four different groups of teenagers perspective as they go through the same stages of life.
Beverly Hills 90210

A group of friends living in Beverly Hills, California make their way through life from their school days into adulthood.
Dawson's Creek​
​
Set in a small coastal, Massachusetts town named Capeside, Dawson's Creek tells the story of four teenagers as they struggle through adolescence. This is particularly true for 15-year-olds Dawson Leery, an introspective dreamer and Joey Potter, a precocious tomboy unaware of her beauty. Best friends since childhood, they are about to enter that confusing time in life where nothing is the way it was and nothing is as it seems.
The O.C.
